This long-term extension has been directly confirmed by the Klima Agency and will be the subject of a forthcoming publication across all their official channels (simulators and platforms). This allows you to plan your purchase for this summer season with peace of mind and approach the future of your sustainable mobility with confidence.
Grant conditions that remain 100% unchanged
No unpleasant surprises or tightened criteria: the conditions for granting the grant remain strictly identical to those previously in force. The Luxembourg state maintains its strong support for cargo bikes, recognised as a true alternative to the individual car.
As a reminder, here are the unchanged conditions you benefit from:
The amount of aid: The grant still covers 50% of the cost excluding VAT of the bike.
The ceiling: The maximum amount of the subsidy remains at 1,000 €.
Accessibility: Unlike the criteria applicable to standard electric bikes, the aid for cargo bikes remains accessible to all individuals residing in Luxembourg, without any means testing (no restrictions related to the cost of living allowance or energy bonus).
Bike criteria: The cycle (with or without pedal assistance) must have a payload of at least 140 kg and options for transporting people or goods that are integral to its structure.
Note: no pre-financing option available
This is an essential point to consider when preparing your budget: the scheme does not include any pre-financing options.
What does this mean in practice? The state grant cannot be deducted directly from your invoice at the time of purchase from your bike dealer, and there is no system for advance funds. You will need to pay the full amount of your cargo bike on the day of acquisition. It is after the purchase, armed with your paid invoice, that you can submit your application for financial aid to the Environment Administration to obtain your reimbursement.
